Sho Sugawara received his BS in Bioengineering from Soka University, Japan, where he studied the role of nucleotide sequences in Murine Leukemia Virus genome RNA in Dr. Sayaka Takase-Yoden's lab. He received a Ph.D. in Immunology from Johns Hopkins University, where he studied HIV-1, specifically focusing on refractory type 1 Interferon responses in CD4+ T cells from People living with HIV-1 in Dr. Andrea Cox & Dr. Ashwin Balagopal's lab. Following his Ph.D degree, Sho expanded his expertise in NK cell biology and rhesus macaque models in Dr. Keith Reeves and Dr. Stephanie Jost's lab as a postdoctoral research fellow. His current research focuses on signaling alteration in NK cells during HIV-1/SIV infection.
